15 Aug Small Secret Saturday – Why Following Up With Sub Trades At Various Points In The Project Is So Critical
Welcome to our new feature…SMALL SECRET SATURDAY! Every Saturday we will drop a new video with a Small Secret that is sure to help you out.
In this week’s SMALL SECRET SATURDAY you will learn why it is important to follow up with your subtrades at various points during the project.
In this case, by checking in midway through the project I was able to find some small issues that needed to be fixed. Here is a quick summary of when and why you should touch base with your subtrades at various points in the project:
You should meet with them on site before the work gets started so that you can make sure you are all on the same page. This is a great opportunity to discuss expectations and to clarify any muddy waters.
You should also meet with them throughout the project as well. Make sure you take a good look at the work they are doing. Trades will often do things in a way that is faster and easier for them so they can move on to the next job. What is better for them is not always better for you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and to speak up. Remember, THEY WORK FOR YOU!
You should also meet with them at the end of the job. Take a walk through the site with them and point out anything that you think is a problem. This is a great time to get copies of any manuals and warranties.
Don’t ever forget that the key to any successful project, construction or otherwise, is COMMUNICATION!!
Leave us a comment as we always look forward to hearing from you!
